Indonesia’s Panoramic Train

Indonesia’s first panoramic train operated by the state-owned railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) offers passengers scenic rail routes that runs between Jakarta and Yogyakarta with tickets starting from 750,000 IDR or roughly 48 USD (2,700 PHP) for one way.

The panoramic train features large windows on both sides and glass roofs that can open and close automatically allowing passengers to enjoy scenic views as they travel. The train also has rotatable seats, remote-controlled window blinds, spacious toilets with automatic sensors, televisions at the end of the train, and special luggage racks.

There are currently two units of train carriages with 46 seats each. The train started operation on December 24, 2022 in time for the holiday season.  Passengers will also get premium service such as free snacks, meals, drinks and blanket. Test run is until January 8, 2023.
